The Public Library as an Anchor Institution

The metaphor of the library as an “anchor” institution is frequent in discussions about the role of the public library. As reported in the ALA District Dispatch, A new Task Force, Community Anchor Network Economic Models, a project of the United States Unified Community Anchor Network (U.S. UCAN), includes Bob Bocher, Technology Consultant for the Wisconsin State Library and ALA/OITP Fellow.
